US barometric pressure map
Right now the highest pressure is Aspen, 30.34 inHg (1028 hPa) and the lowest is Kodiak, 29.25 inHg (991 hPa). All values are sea-level pressure from airport weather stations.

How to read this map
Look for the bands. A wide patch of orange and yellow is a high-pressure system, usually with clear skies and light winds. A patch of blue or purple is a low, where clouds and rain tend to gather. The steeper the change from one color to the next, the stronger the wind between them.
Then watch it move. Weather systems in the US generally travel from west to east, so the pressure to your west today is a fair hint of what is coming. For your own place, the live barometer shows the 3-hour trend, and each city page has a 7-day graph.
Frequently asked questions
What does a barometric pressure map show?
It shows sea-level air pressure at weather stations across the country at about the same time. Bands of the same color trace high and low pressure systems: orange and yellow for high pressure, blue and purple for low.
What do H and L mean on a pressure map?
On this map, H marks the station with the highest pressure right now and L the lowest. On forecast charts they mark the centers of high and low pressure systems. Wind flows from high toward low, and storms tend to form around lows.
Why is the pressure on the map not lower in the mountains?
All values are corrected to sea level, which is how weather services compare places. Actual air pressure in Denver is about 5 inHg lower than in Miami, but the map shows the difference caused by the weather.
How often does the map update?
Each station reports about once an hour. This map checks for new reports about every 10 minutes when it is opened.
