Barometer app help & FAQ

Readings
What is the difference between sea level and station pressure?
Station pressure is the air pressure where you are, so it falls as you go higher. Sea-level pressure adjusts that value to sea level, which is the number weather reports use and the one you can compare between places. Switch between them at the top of the Pressure tab.
Why does it say my device has no barometer sensor?
Some devices have no pressure sensor. The app then shows Apple Weather data for your location instead, so station pressure from the sensor is not available.
Where do the forecast and history come from?
Sea-level pressure, the trend, the history and the 10-day forecast come from Apple Weather. The app needs your location and an internet connection to load them. The sensor reading works only while the app is open.
Why doesn’t the app match my weather station?
Small differences are normal. Readings depend on your device, your height above the ground, and how each source adjusts to sea level. Readings are for general information, not for navigation or safety decisions.
Altitude
Does it record my climb with the app closed?
No. The graph and totals record while Barometer is open, and Pro has a Keep Screen On switch for this. If you come back within 6 hours, the height change in between is added as one step from the pressure difference. After a longer break a new session starts.
Why does my altitude drift?
The sensor tracks altitude changes through pressure, so a change in the weather can look like a change in height. To correct it, calibrate in the Altitude tab whenever you know your exact elevation.
Pressure alerts
How do alerts work?
The app checks the Apple Weather forecast and schedules a notification on your iPhone before a change that matches your rules. You choose the change, the lead time and your quiet hours in the Alerts tab. Alerts are a Pro feature.
Why didn’t I get an alert?
Check that notifications and location are allowed for the app and that Background App Refresh is on in iOS Settings. Quiet hours can also move an alert. iOS decides when apps refresh, and forecasts change, so opening the app from time to time keeps alerts up to date.
Free and Pro
What is free?
Live pressure, the trend, the 24-hour chart, altitude with calibration, and the small Home Screen widget.
What does Pro add?
Pressure-change alerts, details of the next big swing, the 10-day forecast and 90-day history, saved places, the pressure map, the altitude graph with total climb and descent, the pressure journal with CSV export, the chart and Lock Screen widgets, and the Apple Watch chart and complications.
How much does it cost?
Pro is available as a weekly or yearly subscription, and the weekly plan may include a 3-day free trial if you are eligible. The price for your country is shown on the purchase screen before you confirm.
How do I cancel?
Open iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Barometer. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I restore a purchase?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the app’s Settings tab and tap Restore purchases.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles App Store payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Saved places
Can I check pressure in another city?
Yes, with Pro. Tap the location button on the Pressure tab, search for a city or address and save it. Pressure, the forecast, alerts, history and widgets then follow that place until you switch back. Times use your iPhone’s time zone. Altitude and the barometer sensor always measure where you are.
Apple Watch
Does it work on Apple Watch?
Yes. Install Barometer on your iPhone, and the watch app shows pressure, the trend and altitude from your watch’s sensor. With Pro you also get the chart and watch face complications. The forecast comes from your iPhone, so open the iPhone app from time to time to keep it fresh.
Your data
Where is my journal stored?
On your iPhone. It leaves your device only if you export a CSV file and share it yourself. Deleting the app deletes the journal, so export it first if you want to keep it. See the privacy policy for details.
